Well…I think it’s pretty ignorant for anyone to behave that way, whether they’re in support of Romney or Obama. When people threw glitter at Santorum, I rolled my eyes because it was completely defeating the purpose. You’re not going to change someone’s mind by attacking them and it makes you look like a bully.
Hmm…to me it seems pretty typical of any presidential election (sadly). What specifically are you talking about?
I’m not sure what the question is. It’d be easier to answer your questions if you came off anonymous and I could respond privately.
I live in south eastern NC. :)
I heard about an Occupy protest in Raleigh around that time but that’s all the information I have on it.
If anyone has any information on an upcoming protest/rally, please share it. Thanks!

Yes, I am. Born and raised :)
No, I haven’t heard about it. I would need more information about it to post it. However, I have heard about the Catawba County one and I think most people are going to that one. People are carpooling and busing to that protest.
I worked as a counselor for at risk youth. During my time as a counselor, I learned a lot about myself and a lot about people. People can change and people only know what they’ve been taught. Every youth that we had, had their own skills that they needed to work on and goals that they needed to meet. It was up to me (and the people I worked with) to give them all of the knowledge and tools necessary for them to meet their goals.
This is all any person needs. So that’s how I deal with people who don’t believe in equality for all humans. I remember that somewhere along the way, someone taught them these beliefs. They learned the wrong way. If I just start yelling at them and calling them names, I’ve accomplished nothing but make myself feel a little better and theyve learned absolutely nothing. If you educate them and explain human rights in the most basic way then they have been given the knowledge and the tools necessary for them to be a compassionate person that supports human rights.
I don’t argue with people but I will provide them with the facts. If someone starts yelling at me, I smile, say “thank you for your time” and end the conversation.
I just think that all people deserve a chance to learn. I feel sorry for the children in the congregation at that church where the pastor had the sermon about caging homosexuals. They are learning hate and that’s wrong.
We just all have to remember that sometimes when we run into people who are against equality, that we might be the only people from the lgbt or pro equality community that these people have met. We are essentially respresentatives for an entire community. Do we want them to walk away learning nothing and thinking that all pro marriage equality people are “hateful?” No. So we must conduct ourselves accordingly and show respect to people who might not respect us.
I know it’s hard but it actually works better than name calling. Everyone should give it a try.
Thank you! I’m so glad that you exist!
